15 June: catching up

I’m going to throw some pictures up here over the last several days. After spending a day doing this and doing that and taking pictures and so on, I’ve found that at times, the last thing I want to do is spend an evening organizing photos and dealing with the mediocre wi-fi here.

I took Sacha to Cotignac and got to see more of the town than I did when I bicycled through a few days previous. It’s a medieval village, shoved up against a cliffside, and the houses and buildings are just stacked on top of each other. Like many of these villages, one alleyway leads to another and another and it’s hard to know if you’ve really seen it all, when you might actually have seen it all twice. Who knows?

Got another bike ride in. Just exploring some of the backroads around Aups. Having fun with this Tour de France hat I brought with me.

We have friends who were able to attach Aups to their own trips and are stopping by here and there. Julie and Will arrived Wednesday driving up from Cannes on their way to Aix en Provence. And Kevin and Rob are here for a few days now. We visited Tourtour yesterday and the grottoes of Villecroze. My brother and his family and my son and his partner will be here at some point as well.

Sacha’s been feeling pretty lousy for the last 24 hours. She stayed home today while we drove up toward Verdon — Lac St Croix and the gorge. It’s only a half-hour drive but feels like a different place altogether. The village of Moustiers-Ste Marie is tucked against cliffs and rocks and is like an Alpine story-book town. Not sure how to describe that other than the photos don’t do it justice.

Went for a fantastic but short ride today, took a small road trip, and a slow evening at the house. Will post some more tomorrow.
